Scope: Group-wide (Kenya HQ, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Future Markets)

Role Summary

The HR Manager at 5DM is the architect of our people strategy. You will be responsible for the entire employee lifecycle—from sourcing specialized AdTech talent to fostering a high-performance culture across our regional offices. You will ensure that 5DM remains a preferred employer in the African tech landscape by balancing rigorous performance management with a supportive, inclusive, and legally compliant workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Technical Recruiting: Lead the end-to-end recruitment process for specialized roles (AdTech, Performance Marketing, Finance, and Client Success). Build a pipeline of high-caliber talent across Nairobi, Lagos, and Addis Ababa.
  • Specialized Onboarding: Design and manage onboarding programs that quickly integrate new hires into 5DM’s proprietary tech stack and company culture.
  • Employer Branding: Position 5DM as a leader in the African AdTech space to attract top-tier digital professionals.

Performance Management & Professional Development

  • KPI Frameworks: Collaborate with Department Heads to refine and track performance metrics (KPIs/OKRs) that align with 5DM’s business goals.
  • Performance Reviews: Oversee the biannual performance appraisal process, ensuring feedback is constructive, data-driven, and actionable.
  • Learning & Development (L&D): Identify skill gaps and organize training sessions, specifically focusing on technical AdTech certifications and leadership development.

Culture, Engagement & Retention

  • Culture Stewardship: Maintain a cohesive company culture across distributed teams in multiple countries.
  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted mediator for employee grievances and conflict resolution.
  • Retention Strategies: Develop and implement initiatives to reduce turnover and keep high-performers engaged (incentive schemes, career pathing, and wellness programs).

Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations

  • Market Benchmarking: Regularly review salary scales and benefit packages to ensure 5DM remains competitive in the tech sector.
  • Payroll Oversight: Work with the Finance department to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing across all regional branches.
  • HRIS Management: Maintain and optimize HR Information Systems (HRIS) for digital record-keeping and data privacy.

Policy, Legal & Statutory Compliance

  • Regional Labor Law: Ensure 5DM’s HR policies are fully compliant with the labor laws of Kenya, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.
  • Statutory Compliance: Monitor and ensure 100% compliance with statutory requirements such as pensions, NHIF/NSSF (or regional equivalents), and workplace safety regulations.
  • Internal Policies: Draft, update, and enforce the Employee Handbook and corporate policies.

Skills & Qualifications

Experience7+ years of experience in HR, with at least 3 years in a management role (Tech or Agency experience preferred).
EducationBachelor’s degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
CertificationCHRP(K) or equivalent professional HR certification (IHRM membership is a plus).
Regional KnowledgeFamiliarity with employment acts and labor practices in East and West Africa.
Soft SkillsHigh emotional intelligence (EQ), excellent negotiation skills, and a “people-first” mindset.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Time-to-Hire: Efficiency in filling critical technical and commercial roles.
  • Employee Retention Rate: Maintaining a high retention rate of key performers.
  • Compliance Audit: Zero labor-related legal disputes or statutory penalties.
  • Employee Engagement Score: High satisfaction levels as measured through internal surveys.
  • Performance Alignment: Percentage of employees meeting or exceeding their quarterly OKRs.

You will be the bridge between leadership’s vision and the team’s execution. In a fast-moving AdTech firm like 5DM, you must be agile, tech-savvy, and capable of managing the nuances of a multi-cultural, multi-market workforce.
