Role Summary

The Head of AdTech & Media Solutions is a senior “player-coach” role responsible for the end-to-end performance, strategic direction, and profitability of 5DM’s advertising ecosystem. As the departmental lead, you will oversee the Audience Path, Media Path, and Creative Path tech suites. You are responsible for driving departmental excellence through team leadership, high-level business development (demos/webinars), and providing technical training and support for our self-service advertising tools.

The ideal candidate is a performance marketing expert with a deep understanding of the African digital landscape, capable of translating complex data into business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Departmental Leadership & Team Oversight

  • Team Management: Scale and mentor the media buying and performance teams. Define KPIs, oversee career development, and ensure a culture of technical excellence.
  • Process Standardization: Establish best-in-class workflows for campaign planning, execution, and reporting.
  • P&L & Profitability: Manage the department’s media profitability. Monitor account spending to eliminate leakage and ensure 5DM meets both internal margins and client ROI targets.

Media Strategy & High-Value Optimization

  • Proprietary Data Activation: Lead strategy for hyper-targeted campaigns using 5DM’s unique data pillars: Movement Intelligence (Location), E-commerce Transactions, and Audience Affinities (Gaming, Sports, Farming).
  • Performance Engineering: Direct the team in advanced optimization techniques, including Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) and AI-driven bidding.
  • Strategic Architecture: Build multi-channel media plans across Google, Meta, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn that align with client business outcomes.

Business Development & Market Leadership

  • Technical Sales & Demos: Lead high-stakes presentations and live software demos for enterprise prospects, articulating 5DM’s competitive advantage.
  • Webinars & Thought Leadership: Design and lead educational webinars to drive adoption of 5DM’s AdTech solutions.
  • Client Service: Act as the senior strategic partner for top-tier media clients, providing high-level performance insights.

Training & Customer Success (Self-Service)

  • Customer Onboarding: Design and deliver training programs for customers signed up for 5DM’s self-service advertising tech tools.
  • Support & Enablement: Serve as the ultimate escalation point for technical troubleshooting, helping self-service clients maximize their ROI on the platform.

Partner & Ecosystem Management

  • Data Partners: Manage relationships with niche data and inventory providers to ensure 5DM’s Audience Path remains the most robust in the market.
  • Technology Partners: Manage relationships with advertising technology partners and the development team.
  • Global Platforms: Maintain senior-level relationships with Google, Meta, TikTok, X, and LinkedIn to secure early access to features and premium support.

Technical Proficiency & Certifications

The candidate must demonstrate expert proficiency in the following stack:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 10+ years in Digital Media/AdTech, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing a media buying department.
  • Certification: Active expert-level certifications in Google, Meta, and Programmatic buying are mandatory.
  • Technical Literacy: A working knowledge of web advertising technologies (tags, pixels, cookies, and signal loss mitigation).
  • Communication: Elite presentation and public speaking skills for C-suite demos and industry webinars.
  • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to manage a complex product architecture integrating data, media, and creative strategy.

Performance Metrics (KPIs)

  • Departmental Profitability: Healthy margins on media spend and managed services.
  • Campaign ROI/ROAS: Consistently meeting or exceeding client-defined performance targets.
  • Self-Service Growth: Success and retention rates of customers on 5DM self-service tools.
  • Sales Pipeline Support: Conversion rate of leads following a technical demo or webinar.
